沙特内政部表示，18日一名沙特王子在首都利雅得被处以死刑。这是沙特40年来首次对王室处以死刑。

被处死刑的王子名叫卡比尔( Turki bin Saud al-Kabir )，三年前他因与人发生口角将对方射杀。审判中，卡比尔承认了罪行。沙特国家普通法院对他判决死刑，并得到了上诉法院及最高法院的支持，之后一条执行死刑的王室命令被发布。虽然相关报道并未明确指出行刑方式，但沙特大多被判死刑的人都是在公开场合被砍头。

沙特内政部表示，他们将确保政府将积极维护所有人的“安全”，并“实现正义。”这是沙特今年处决的第134人，但受刑人是王室家族成员这一点实属罕见。上一起王室被判死刑的案件法发生在1975年，一名王室成员因暗杀自己的叔叔——费莎尔国王而被处以死刑。

该事件震撼沙特，一些沙特人在社交网络上表示，他们从没想过这样的事竟然会发生。另一些人则认为这展现了沙特司法系统运转良好。

that sword is not even real. it's made of cardboard. the mask and attire of "executioner" look like a $6.9 halloween costume from party city. apparently, that pic was taken in 2011 as a mock execution by a bangladeshi group protesting the saudi decision to chop the heads off 8 bangladeshis.
