For 3pax sampan ~ $1050 (good wood)
COE ~ $350. (last for 50 years)
insurance + river tax around ~ $200
guess not cheap..

You need a rubber dinghy, storage wise is easier than a sampan.

Actually, the kayak is the most efficient mode of transport in terms of energy expended versus distance traveled. The canoe is also very good.
