Started to take note of this St. Patrick's Day after attending university in the States. Had an American roommate who had a little Irish ancestry, and he insisted that we drink green beer on that day. (The beer is beer, any lager, as long as the bottle is green), and since that day in the 80s, I have never been a sober man on this day. Like my roommate said, on St. Patrick's Day, everybody is Irish! Happy Saint Paddy's Day! Nowadays though, a glass of Guiness will do.

St. Patrick wasn’t named Patrick, nor was he Irish. His real name was Maewyn Succat, and he was born to Roman parents living in the UK. He spent his teen years being a shepherd before turning to church life. Saint Patricks' Day is actually a Christian event - marks the coming of Christianity to Ireland.

Cheers!
