A Singapore Armed Forces colonel was yesterday charged with causing the death of an elderly pedestrian through negligence.

No plea was taken from Tan Yan Yee, 44.

Tan, who is attached to the Singapore High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, is alleged to have caused the death of Mr Lau Ing See, 86, in Yio Chu Kang Road at about 8.15pm on Nov 13 last year.

Tan was driving on the right of the two-lane road when his car hit Mr Lau who was crossing the road. The case was adjourned to Jan 7 next year.
