SINGAPORE: Authorities in Singapore have seized some S$630,000 worth of the drugs called "Ice" from a Vietnamese woman at Changi Airport.

In a joint statement, the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) and the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said they made the drug haul on Saturday.

They said that at about 8.45am, the 47-year-old woman was stopped by ICA officers for checks when she arrived at Changi Airport Terminal 2.

During the course of checks, ICA and CNB officers detected two slabs of crystallised substance wrapped in aluminium foil in her luggage.

The slabs were found to contain about 4.1 kilogrammes of substance suspected to be "Ice".

Preliminary investigations suggested that the "Ice" was likely meant to be re-exported and was not meant for the Singapore market.

The statement said CNB is investigating the Vietnamese woman for drug importation, and if convicted, she may face the death penalty. - CNA/al
