RSAF to get 12 jet trainers

SINGAPORE Technologies Aerospace Ltd (ST Aerospace) has been awarded a contract to acquire 12 M-346 aircraft and a ground-based training system for the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) Advanced Jet Trainer (AJT) replacement programme.

The aircraft will be provided by Alenia Aermacchi, while the training system will be supplied by Boeing, said a Ministry of Defence statement on Tuesday.

ST Aerospace will undertake the overall management of the AJT programme. The 12 M-346 aircraft and the ground-based training system are expected to be delivered from 2012.

'The acquisitions of the M-346 aircraft and the ground-based training system mark a significant milestone in the RSAF's force development, enhancing the capabilities and operational readiness of the Singapore Armed Forces,' said Mindef.

Its obvious, right? As part of the fact finding, the DSTA/RSAF team was flown to Italy to check out the plane and at the same time treated to branded goods shopping trip, Italian wine tasting, and sightseeing.

The Russians can only offer them ass freezing in siberia and shopping trips in empty communist stores, and rotgut Vodka. Who u choose afterthat?

If they had bought the T-50 from Korea, it would be a lot cheaper as they can use the same spare parts with the F-16s. RSAF also so brand conscious, buying lambhorgini is more seh bin than buying a hyundai.

the t-50 is so expensive to be a trainer and it is almost like the f-16 difference is it is a trainer plane if i am paying this kind of money of course i will be getting the f-16 not some korean shit

Malaysia/India also buy Russia plane no language problem. With such budget any manufacturer willing to rewrite instruction manual in any language. Many buy Russia pane also fix with US weapon no problem at all.
$40 for a trainer plane better buy F16.

For some bucks, the Israelis will cowtheme everything for you. Make sure the manuals are all in english, change the avionics to western, and the weaponry and delivery system to western too. Actually, new gen of Russian weapons are not bad.
