BOYS will be boys.
Their boys' night out is just as important as the girls gathering to discuss great matters of importance like switching to mineral make-up.
However, the imaginative female mind has the tendency to conjure up scenarios of her man chatting up random hot chicks with his buddies acting as his wingmen.
The truth of the matter is, the average boys' night out is a boring affair of plonking themselves down at some pub, chugging beer for a few hours while commiserating with one another over problems.
But whoever said men cannot multitask is wrong.
A man on a typical boys' night out is perfectly capable of keeping his eyes glued on a football match on the flat screen, guzzling his beer, eating salty bar food and communicating with his mates via occasional grunts and shrugs.
At the very same time, his brain is secretly hard at work, mulling over a very perplexing question: Which is worse, to be the first to leave and be called henpecked, or to risk the wrath of the missus for not doing the Cinderella act?
Well, ladies, to solve this problem, tell your man to bring the lads home instead for the next boys' night 'out'. Earn the adulation of your man by whipping up some quick and easy bar snacks.
Now, he can stay at home safely with the boys and have no opportunity of getting up to any mischief.
You, on the other hand, should make a graceful exit by meeting up with the girls at the hippest club in town.
No harm in innocent flirtation like batting mascara-laden eyelashes at the hot-looking guy on the dance floor. Oh, and don't forget to check your handphone for frantic messages from your man after midnight and play Hamlet - to reply or not to reply.

CALAMARI RINGS
Ingredients
600g squid, cleaned and cut into 2cm-thick rings.
200g sifted all-purpose flour
2 tbsp corn flour
2 tbsp cayenne pepper
1 tbsp sweet paprika

3 tsp salt
Oil for deep frying
Method
Pat dry the squid with a kitchen towel, thentoss everything into a resealable plasticbag.
Ensure that all the squid rings are fully coated with the seasoned flour mix.
Heat a wok or pot with oil that's at least 10cm deep. Deep-fry squid rings in batches of about 10 at a time.
Once the rings turn a golden-brown, remove from oil and drain dry. Serve with lemon wedges.
Ingredients for spicy mayo dip
3 tbsp mayonnaise
1/2 tsp dill
Sprinkling of cayenne pepper
Method
Mix the ingredients for the dip and there you have it.
