SHAMLI: Jammu & Kashmir police have arrested an MBBS doctor from Anantnag district, who had been working at a hospital in Saharanpur (UP) for the past few months, for his alleged involvement in "putting up posters" of the banned terrorist outfit, Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), across Srinagar last month.
The accused, Dr Adil Ahmad, a medicine specialist, had tied the knot with a local lady doctor just last month, on Oct 4, said police.
Saharanpur (city) SP Vyom Bindal confirmed that a J&K police team had reached the city on Thursday and sought assistance from Sadar Bazar police station to arrest the doctor. "The local police extended full cooperation to the J&K cops as per procedure. The accused was taken on transit remand and flown to Kashmir the same day," said Bindal.
Sources said J&K police was investigating the matter and no case was registered against the doctor in Saharanpur.
