Two teenagers arrested for alleged robbery
Police arrested two teenagers yesterday afternoon, believed to be involved in a robbery at Block 226, Ang Mo Kio Street 22.
One of them's 18 years old while his accomplice is 17.
The Malay boys allegedly targetted a 55-year old man at the void deck of the block of flats at around 1am that day after he withdrew some money from an automatic teller machine.
It's believed the teenagers attacked him before making off with about $1,000 worth of cash and valuables.
As a result, the man suffered bruises to his face and body.
A resident who heard the commotion alerted the police.
They conducted their investigations and established the identity of one of the suspects within an hour.
The 17-year old was arrested at Block 37, Circuit Road shortly before 3pm.
Police nabbed his accomplice about 45 minutes later along Upper Thomson Road.
The teenagers will be charged in court tomorrow.
If convicted, they could each be jailed up to 20 years and receive at least 12 strokes of the cane.
