In April 2026, U.S. naval forces seized the Touska in the Gulf of Oman after the vessel allegedly attempted to breach a U.S.-led naval blockade. The forces disabled the ship by firing into its engine room.
The return of the Touska is intended to de-escalate tensions, coinciding with Trump's announcement of "Project Freedom," an initiative aimed at escorting stranded vessels out of the Strait of Hormuz.
