They think that $600k 4-room HDB is affordable; not because they want to but because statistically, Singapore's median household income has increased. In fact, all reports are saying that it is more affordable today that it was 10 years ago.

4-room HDB used to cost $300k 10 years ago. Are you earning $300k more? Obviously, SG stats has been greatly skewed by the influx of high-income earners. We should be looking at mode instead of median now.

With other allowances and many months of bonuses, and also not to forget MP is a part-time job, so total with their full time job, a MP is easily making $50K minimum per month, on par with our mayor of $600k per year. So, our MP is considered as Global Talent, based on our MOM'S definition.
