18 months after his release from corrective training, a man who attacked another man with a broken glass bottle was sentenced to seven years' preventive detention on Thursday.
Letchumanan Manikam, 50, had pleaded guilty to grievously hurting Mr Goh Tat Heng, 39, by stabbing his left cheek and the back of his neck, and cutting his chest with the broken glass bottle at a shelter near Block 3 Jalan Bukit Merah on Dec 18, 2010.
The injuries left Mr Goh with permanent disfiguration to his face. He also could not work for more than 20 days. Letchumanan had also stolen the victim's mobile phone, wallet, an ez-Link card and driving licence that day.
The court heard that the pair had been drinking at the shelter earlier.
