1 in 3 Singaporeans have H. pylori (stomach cancer bacteria) — have you been tested

I need advice!

its spread through intimacy!!! via saliva contact... I’m a med student and came across Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) while studying — turns out it’s surprisingly common here. NUH estimates about 31% of Singaporeans are infected, often since childhood.

Most people don’t show symptoms, but some do get:

  • Stomach pain/burning (esp. when hungry, after kopi/teh, or spicy food)
  • Bloating, nausea, early fullness
  • In rare cases, bleeding ulcers → black stools or vomiting blood
Testing in Singapore (NUH/SGH/Polyclinics):

  • Urea breath test → quick & non-invasive, usually referred by GPs/polyclinics
  • Gastroscopy with biopsy → if symptoms are persistent
  • Some GPs may suggest starting with at-home saliva kits, e.g. this one on Shopee for convenience
  • Certain tests are MediSave-claimable / subsidised under CHAS depending on the setting
Treatment (hospital standard):

  • Combination of antibiotics + acid suppression meds (PPIs)
  • Because of antibiotic resistance in Singapore, follow-up testing is important to confirm clearance
While reading up on this, I also came across Nutrimexx, a German pharmaceutical company that’s been researching probiotics for H. pylori support. Their Pylomed Probiotic contains a patented strain (Lactobacillus reuteri DSM 17648, PYLOPASS®), studied for its ability to bind H. pylori in the stomach.

It’s not a cure or replacement for antibiotics, but some research suggests it may:

  • Help maintain digestive balance during/after treatment
  • Reduce side effects from meds (like bloating/diarrhoea)
  • Be safe as a natural supplement for both adults and kids
Reference: NUH – H. pylori

Curious to hear from fellow Singaporeans:

  • Have you or your family ever been tested for H. pylori?
  • Did you go through hospital breath tests, or try kits first?
  • Any experiences with probiotics (Nutrimexx or otherwise) as part of recovery?

More tests using fraudulent science created false positives so that more profits for the health industry

How do you get healthy folks to become a customer? Get them to keep testing and testing non stop... make them even more sick by giving them more PCB garage zhams for free and tell them it's safe and effective. KNN.... this one is call Iatrogenic....
