SINGAPORE: Two fires in two days - both in HDB flats - with one resulting in the death of a man.

The cause of the fires has yet to be established.

On Saturday morning, a fire broke out in the kitchen in a third-floor flat at Block 154, Ang Mo Kio Ave 5.

Units on the 4th and 5th floors were evacuated as a precautionary measure.

And on Friday night, a man died after a flat in Block 31, Toa Payoh Lorong 5 caught fire.

His body was so badly burnt that his age and race have yet to be established.

Twenty people were evacuated. Three were sent to hospital for smoke inhalation.
