This is what happens when PAP is in charge..

Is this called high cost of maintenance? or no proper maintenance? What a 3rd world govt sinkies have!!!

real reason and only reason is PAP fat cat.

we must kill the fat cat.

Main switch board on fire. Difficult to finger thw problem Need regular thermoscan as preventive measure

most likely a short due to metal contact from poor insulation. or somebody left and forgot his braces. :D

Maybe someone forgot to install the plastic tie :D

Must have bought, substandard components from PRC...not the usual MK or what's the name of the standard ones for electricity I forgot..or the standard brands now, have factories in Vietnam, Myanmar..but mostly nowadays, imitation PRC products.

A electrician that I engaged, had customise a similar looking thing like that for a building I use to manage many years back....it is still running, it was made with REGULATION components & checked by Stink Power & Certified..

A committee must convene to check on the transformer & make their recommendations so that, incident like this, will not occur again, in the meantime, ask for increase in fares so that, they can pay for more upgraded personnel....ha ha ha ha

Such type of fire seldom happen to equipment that is not that old. Poor contact is the normal cause of fire (electrical arc). Even then, the fire is small as every component is fire-rated and would not burn so easily. I can only say that the management is super ass luck or kana sabotage.

Someone told me that SMRT has people who do nothing but source for the cheapest components & that is why they will not use branded parts

If you have an organisation so money minded, the margin of error is very slim & you will have these "honest mistakes". Unfortunately it is the commuters who pay the price:(

"kana sabo"...would be possible, to get so many components burn & melt like that, the heat must be very intense to produce heat that intense...we have to explain the whole electrical thing....you should know right!??

The commuters were religious & honest enough to pay & ride on such a world crass, sorry opps! class LRT system, after so many years later, they are telling you, that, the terrain at Bukit Panjang was a challenge...like we have such a long coastline that security was a challenge too...I sat on the train system, more like a monorail or was it train with small carriages, in Taipei recently, that went through some hilly parts...wonder they have problems like we face here? over there the incline is steeper too.

In other words, we translate what the MIW's are saying is, PLEASE PAY MORE FOR THE FARES, SO THAT WE CAN UPGRADE THE LRT SYSTEM..period!....psst! please read the lips...

This happens all the time. That's why we have maintenance. Singaporeans should stop expecting delicate train infrastructure components to last forever.

From the pix it look like one of the sub board n not the main switch gear

Which company is in charge of that LRT facilities?
The investigators should check all checklists and the physical condition of all electrical switchboards/ distribution boards.

Yes, but what happened to the fuse (s)??? for the thing to burn to like that, the build up, must be tremendous & over time too. Do they have remote monitoring of the electrical system??? some warning lights or even alarms? the one I mention, my electrical contractor commissioned, beeps very loud & lights flashes, when something is not right...you got to be blind, not to see the warning lights & deaf, not to hear the incessant beeps...that reminds me of the 60%...

rather dangerous to walk on track but again, YOU DIE, YOUR BUSINESS!
你死你的事!

if train carriage rolls, walkers be minced.
