Instead of centralizing public assistance to one organization, the CCB insatiably GREEDY + CORRUPT FAPee TRAITORS set up a host of fake 'social enterprises'. The outcome is increased cost and nobody gets any real help at the end of the day. Instead, these 'social enterprises' provided a large no. of lucrative directorship opportunities for the FAPee TRAITORS themselves. If this is not LEEGALIZED CORRUPTION, what is?

SLF, labour movement to ensure needs of working families are better met: Mah

By UMA SHANKARI
THE Singapore Labour Foundation (SLF) and the labour movement will expand the impact and scale of the NTUC social enterprises to better meet the needs of working families, chairman Mah Bow Tan said yesterday.

'The 12 social enterprises of the labour movement today serve more than two million customers,' said Mr Mah, who is also Minister for National Development. 'The larger social enterprises like NTUC FairPrice and NTUC Income are well-known household names. They have been able to make a more substantial impact than the smaller ones.'
Mr Mah added that SLF would focus on growing some of the higher-impact and higher-potential social enterprises, such as NTUC First Campus and NTUC LearningHub.
SLF, which is a statutory board under the Ministry of Manpower, will also support the labour movement's plans to serve the needs of managers and executives, he said. SLF was founded in 1977 to develop a strong and progressive labour movement in Singapore.
SLF's contributions will increase in tandem with the expansion of the labour movement programmes that make a substantial impact, so long as SLF remains financially healthy and sustainable, Mr Mah added.
He was speaking at the May Day dinner last night, where May Day Awards were conferred on 88 outstanding individuals and companies - the highest number of awardees since 1963.
The awards recognise significant and sustained contributions to Singapore's labour movement through the promotion of good industrial relations, strong support for training initiatives and helping workers improve their welfare.
May Day Awards sub-committee chairman Lim Kuang Beng said the record number of awardees shows that Singapore's unions and companies stepped up their efforts in a difficult economic year in 2009 and, together with the government, continued to show strong support for their workers and the labour movement's initiatives.
