Zhou EnLai seemed to be a very charming and intelligent man. even his opponents admired him. Chiang Kai Shek liked him. other anti-communist figures like Patrick Hurley and Fred Utley also found him a articulate and charming intellectual. they believed Zhou was sincere in his talks with them even though they don't really believe his words.
