The youth arm of Malaysia’s ruling political party has filed a police report against posters of a movie that touches on racism in the country and was named after an animal forbidden in Islam.
Mohammad Azwan Azmi, a youth representative of the National Alliance told reporters yesterday that the posters were offensive even though they were not publicized in Malaysia and were only available online. Malaysian rapper Namewee had been promoting the movie Babi, which means pig in Malay, on social media ahead of its official screening in Taiwan today where the 37-year-old is based.

“The poster is insulting, very rude, and has malicious intent to incite racism,” Mohammad told reporters outside the Dang Wangi police headquarters around 11am yesterday, later adding: “My report is based on the poster as it is insulting mainly towards Malays.”
Mohammad also said that there were other degrading texts in the poster. For example, the word “Melayu (Malay)” was written beside the text that said “Babi.” The phrase “Cina Babi (Chinese Pig)” that was also written in the poster could cause racial disharmony as well, according to Mohammad.
“I am concerned that these insults on the poster could cause racial disharmony in Malaysia,” Mohammad said.
The provocative rapper defended his directorial debut yesterday, saying that those who have intentions to complain about the movie to the police without watching it were “extremists.”
“Babi is actually a film about racial harmony. Those who haven’t watched the movie nor understand it’s message, yet still dare say they would lodge police reports without the facts – they are the true extremists,” Namewee, whose real name is Wee Meng Chee, wrote online hours before Mohammad spoke with the press.
The rapper said that Babi was based on a 2000 racially-charged school riot in southern Malaysia that was never reported in the media. The movie was banned in Malaysia and was nominated for awards in Berlin and Toronto. It was also in the running to win awards at the Bangkok International Film Festival and Taiwan’s Golden Horse Award.
“I feel very sad, but still, this film now receives international recognition and I cannot be prouder,” the rapper added.
A 2000 report by the Inter Press Service recorded several racial riots in high schools across Ipoh, Penang, and Kedah, where hundreds of students were involved and dozens injured. Malaysia, which is an Islamic country, is predominantly composed of Malays followed by people of Chinese and Indian descent.

Every jiuhu mosque and madrassah whitewashes islamic history. When moslem students study the Crusades, they learn only how moslems were killed and totally do not learn about how seljurk moslems slaughter Christian pilgrims. They also do not learn about war crimes committed by moslem soldiers on conquests and raids. All jiuhu mosques and madrassahs also refuse to apologize for the historical crimes committed against the orang asli by jihads sanctioned by the mosques and sultans.

Malays and orang asli intermarried... so there!

More like historically, m&ds led by their sultans killed orang asli men, burn their villages, and take orang asli women as sex slaves, just like the early moslems did. It's written in the hadith. Madrassahs and mosques whitewash this part of malaya history and blame all violence on the Jews and the British colonizers.

Nothing was written about this except orang asli was captured and enslaved by the warlords. And when British advisor James birch wanted to abolish slavery, the warlords hired a orang asli to assasinate him.

By warlords, you actually meant 'moslem sultan' and his moslem nobles, all of whom made money from slave trafficking and slave catching.

The British became wealthy due to slavery. Selling slaves to the US.

Some British became wealthy due to slavery trade. The British started to put an end to slavery in the early 1800s and officially ended it by 1833. Moslems have never made any effort to end slavery because their religion sanctioned keeping slaves, kidnapping people to become slaves and raping slaves. Slavery in islam was put to an end by the British, who would intercept moslem slave trafficking ships on the high seas and forcibly free the slaves if necessary.

No they were not. They were just nomadic invaders on a conquering spree like the huns or the mongols.

There was a moslem version of 'Spartacus' though. They were slaves fed up with islamic slavery. It's called the Zanj Rebellion, where a moslem scholar led a revolt against the caliph for his cruelty. Today, moslems suck the sultan's cock only.

The Zanj Rebellion (Arabic: ثورة الزنج‎ Thawrat al-Zanj / Zinj) was a major revolt against the Abbasid Caliphate, which took place from 869 until 883. Begun near the city of Basra in present-day southern Iraq and led by one Ali ibn Muhammad, the insurrection involved enslaved Bantu-speaking people (Zanj) who had originally been captured from the coast of East Africa and transported to the Middle East, principally to drain the region's salt marshes.[3] It grew to involve slaves and freemen, including both blacks and Arabs, from several regions of the Caliphate, and claimed tens of thousands of lives before it was finally defeated.[4]

The Zanj were Bantu-speaking slaves who had been forcibly taken from Africa and who were primarily used for agricultural labor as part of the plantation economy of southern Iraq. The demand for servile labor during this period was fueled by wealthy residents of the port city of Basra, who had acquired extensive marshlands in the surrounding region. These lands had been abandoned as a result of peasant migration and repeated flooding over time, but they could be converted back into cultivatable status through intensive labor.[7]

Local magnates were able to gain ownership of this land on the condition that they would make it arable. As a result, they acquired large numbers of Zanj and other slaves, who were placed into work camps and tasked with clearing away the nitrous topsoil as part of the reclamation process. Other Zanj were used to work in the salt flats of lower Iraq, especially in the area around Basra.[7]

Both the working and living conditions of the Zanj were considered to be extremely miserable. The menial labor they were engaged in was difficult and the slaves appear to have been poorly treated by their masters.[8] Two previous attempts to rebel against these circumstances are known to have occurred in 689–90 and in 694. Both of these revolts had quickly failed and thereafter little is known about their history prior to 869.[9]

The leader of the revolt was a Ali ibn Muhammad, an Islamic scholar of uncertain background. Little is known about his family or early life due to a scarcity of information and conflicting accounts. According to one version, his paternal grandfather was descended from the Abd al-Qays and his paternal grandmother was a Sindhi slave woman, while his mother, a free woman, was a member of the Banu Asad ibn Khuzaymah. Some later commentators have presumed him to have been of Persian rather than Arab background, but other historians consider this to be unlikely. Ali himself claimed to have been descended from Ali ibn Abi Talib, the son-in-law of the Islamic prophet Muhammad and fourth caliph of the Rashidun Caliphate, but this was largely rejected by Muslim historians of the era as false.[11]

Regardless of his origins, Ali appears to have spent at least a part of his youth living in the area of Rayy, and at an unspecified date he moved to the Abbasid capital of Samarra, where he mixed with some of the influential slaves of Caliph al-Muntasir (861-62). In 863, he made his way from Samarra to Bahrain (modern eastern Arabia), where he pretended to be Shi'i and started to rouse the people into rebellion against the caliphate. Support for his cause quickly grew. A large number of Bahranis submitted to his authority and the kharaj (land taxes) were collected in his name. Despite this, his rebellion eventually failed due to opposition from the local inhabitants, whereupon Ali abandoned the region and relocated to the city of Basra in southern Iraq in 868.[12]

By the 800's arabs have diverted from their original ideal. But the idea of a free man lingers among the crowd.

Of course there is another side to this as the arabs expanded into Greek speaking roman territories ( remnants of alexander the greats empire. When he died, greek general divided the empire among themselves.) They could be influenced by the lifestyle which needed slaves to make it possible.

er... no. Muslims have been some of the biggest slavers in history. I'm too lazy to go dig up the reference.

Fact is no one group has been innocent of slavery in one form or another.

So were the romans and greeks.
They were no democrats liberating barbarian lands. They conquered to enslave them. And the reward is land for the army with slaves in tow.

The moslem prophet conquered land and enslaved people, trading slaves and banging his slaves. It was the norm of his time. Yet when the moslem prophet did all this, he was cementing such a barbaric act for all times. moslems learn their behaviour and social rules by following their prophet. So as long as their prophet traded and banged his slaves, slavery was and is legal in islam. Slavery in islam has to be put to an end by non-moslems through force. There's no other way.
