May 19, 2010
JAKARTA - A MODERATE 5.4-magnitude earthquake struck off Indonesia's Java island on Wednesday but there were no immediate reports of damage and no tsunami warning was issued, seismologists said.
The quake struck at 7.13am (0013 GMT, 8.13am Singapore time), 36km north-west of Ujung Kulon, West Java, at a depth of 10km, the geophysics and meteorological agency said.
'The shaking was felt in many areas, including Jakarta, but the quake was not damaging,' agency technical head Suharjono told AFP.
