During the last PC show many people were offered cheap fiber connection. I'm curious about the level of service people have encountered?

Currently still using Singtel's ADSL however I notice that if I upgrade my internet connection to fiber I can access various TV services being offered in the US, HK, China,... I can also reduce my reliance on Starhub. For the same price as to what I am paying for Starhub I can get cheaper services from other companies e.g. Netflix or some other US/HK TV service.

Recently MyRepublics's offered a 1Gbps plan for $49.99. In the last PC show M1 offered a 100mbps plan for under $40. These are I think reasonable prices. Does anyone know if M1 or MyRepublic throttles the speed of downloads:confused:

Vsited Starhub at Plaza Spura to find out more on what they are offering to counter the packages offered by other ISPs. Really a waste of time because the rep didn't have the sheet showing the latest bundling promotions. It was obvious that she couldn't answer any questions that I might have. I worry that if I encounter any internet related problems I'm not sure that the people at Starhub can be of help.

Starhub is a movie channel provider & not really an ISP. I have talked to reps from View quest & Myrepublic & they appear to be more technically knowledgeable. With the introduction of fibre Starhub is losing their monopoly as a cable movie biznis. If they don't pull up their socks their future is not too bright.
