This is just like those EMAS signs along the highway - telling you that there is a traffic jam all the way to XXX. More efforts should be made to inform the public of the daily high/low tides so that travel times can be planned or schedules adjusted, to avoid peak high tide periods.

Closed-circuit television (CCTV) images of 24 locations around the island are now available for public viewing at its website.

Currently 65 CCTVs are installed at areas which are inclined to floods, or have recently experienced flash floods.

Of these, 24 areas with higher traffic flow will have their images uploaded online and updated every five minutes. These areas include those in Orchard Road, Shenton Way, Bukit Timah Road, Upper Thomson, Veerasamy Road, Tampines Street 81 and Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3

Mr William Yeo, PUB's deputy director of catchment and waterways explained that the new initiatives will help provide real-time site conditions during heavy rainstorms. 'This enables us to deploy manpower on site faster in the event of a flash flood and provide more timely updates to the public,' he added.

With the ability to check out road conditions at these areas during heavy storms, Mr Yeo also said the initiatives will help improve public preparedness as part of PUB's overall flood management effort.
