No help for boys harassed on bus
AT ABOUT 3.25pm on July 24, my son and three of his friends boarded an SBS Transit service 31 bus along Old Airport Road near Dakota MRT station.
They had just finished a school project and were carrying many things, which they placed on the luggage area of the bus.
At this point, a male passenger started hurling vulgarities at them. He even pressed down on my son's neck as he shouted into his ear.
This harassment continued for a good 25 minutes. When the boys alighted at Parkway Parade, the man followed them out and continued his tirade.
Fortunately, another passenger also alighted and intervened.
I would like to ask SBS what is the protocol when passengers are being harassed on a bus. The bus driver cannot plead ignorance as the man was shouting at the top of his voice.
The other matter of concern is the apathy of the other passengers on the bus. This was a case of an adult harassing children who were unable to defend themselves. Yet, only one person intervened - after they had alighted.
Are we telling our next generation to cower in the face of adversity, instead of standing up for what is right?

$inkies are like their leaders, only interested in lining their own pockets, taking the short cut forward and exploiting young/poor people for ridicule and abuse...

"If the annual salary of the Minister of Information, Communication and Arts is only $500,000, it may pose some problems when he discuss policies with media CEOs who earn millions of dollars because they need not listen to the minister's ideas and proposals. Hence, a reasonable payout will help to maintain a bit of dignity."
