Since they are oready so rich, they can use their own money to pay the difference if they want to go by 1st class.

Practising austerity, Congress President Sonia Gandhi will travel the economy class while flying to Mumbai on Monday.

Party sources said Gandhi, who is also the UPA chairperson, will be taking the economy class when she goes to Mumbai for a party function. Gandhi had been instrumental in launching an austerity drive in the party in the wake of drought in various parts of the country. The drive has also gained momentum in the Government with several ministers flying the economy class.

On Sunday, External Affairs Minister S M Krishna announced that he will not take private aircraft and travel on commercial flights for his overseas trips while his colleague Sharad Pawar after some initial resistance flew economy class in a private airline.

Krishna has decided to forego travel by private aircraft which he is entitled to use on visits abroad and said he will travel economy class commercial flights. Pawar said his party was now buying air tickets for him and not the government following the announcement of the code of conduct for the Maharashtra Assembly elections. </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

This is silly.Ah Neh country is full of political shit.Who believes the most powerful lady in India travels economy class:p:p:p---must be a naviete if you are.

Sonia 's party would have bought the the next five rows in front and back so that she can change her saree without anybody peeking.If not the security that follows her would take up a hundred seats at least.

It would be cheaper if she flies private.As the saying was that it cost a bomb to keep Mahatma Gandhi in poverty--said the British during his visit to UK ..

I don't care if Sonia travels economy or not or whether it's just gimmicky PR.
India is such a huge country with huge difficulties & differences & very hard to govern! This is tiny Sinkapore, a mere city-state & very easy to govern because all got no balls & every GE almost clean sweep.

I therefore propose they should always travel by Tiger Airways or other budget airlines. If destinations not served by them, then they can take economy. For neighbouring Malaysia, they can take coaches. For Indonesia e.g. Batam or Bintan, they can like us just take the ferry. If going on to Jakarta, they can take Lion Airways or Sempati.

I will rather our million dollar mintoots fly super duppa class.But my only humble request is that they and our MP(s) too ride the MRT or bus to & fro work.It's a very simple request but sure to get the result we all want.

LKY is an exception.He is to tour his constituency in a touring coach every six month...Perhaps,he would than shut his mouth about beggers since his constituency has the most.
