Born in northern Chiangmai province of Thailand on June 21, 1967, Yingluck earned a bachelor's degree in politics
from Chiangmai University and a master's degree in public administration from Kentucky State University in the United States.
After her graduation, Yingluck pursued a corporate career as the general manager of a media company, senior executive
at the telecommunications firm Advanced Info Service (AIS) and later managing director of property developer SC Asset Company.
In May 2011, Yingluck started her career in politics. She took part in the House of Representatives elections in July 2011,
and was elected prime minister one month later.
She is married to businessman Anusorn Amornchat and has one son.
