PAP had privatised the following:
1. NOL
2. SMRT
3. Singtel
4. DBS
5. SingPost
6. POSB

All the above companies belonged to SG and Singaporeans. But because of greed and wanting to make more money, the pap saw it fit to privatise these publicly owned companies. In the process, SMRT went overboard and sought more profits and departed from its core business of providing efficient, effective and affordable transportation. SMRT failed badly as a private company and was in danger of losing its mission and values. The rest is history and the govt rightly de-privatised SMRT and nationalised it back to SG.

NOL is a sad story and I hope pap learns from this debacle.

PAP had wanted to privatise PSA and Changi Airport but has delayed it.

Because of money, the pap had commercialised the following:
1. Meals for SAF personnel
2. Cleaning of parks
3. Transportation of saf personnel
4. Training of RSAF pilots
5. Higher servicing of SAF equipment, RSAF aircraft and RSN ships

By contracting out the above services SAF has lost many core capabilities. Will these capabilities be available during tension periods? Or will the contractors pack up and return to their homeland?

PAP has over privatised SG owned companies and has lost many key capabilities because of greed.

Often the greed of making more money benefits the stakeholders at the expense of the citizens.

Take the case of SMRT. Because it was privatised, the mgmt went for more profits and departed from its core business of providing affordable transport but instead focused on retail. Maintenance was neglected and trains broke down. Commuters and citizens suffered as train fares rose

Savings by seeking the cheapest service providers through commercialisation can result in poor standards and loss of capabilities. The parks are left dirty because NEA and NPB neglected their duties to ensure that contractors do their jobs well.

The SAF has lost important capabilities because some essential services were tendered out. Eventually such capabilities will be totally alien to the saf. How can training of RSAF pilots be commercialised? Does the rsaf have 100% control of the quality and standards of our Pilots or are we at the mercy of the service providers who will tell us who are best pilots are? Does rsaf have 100% control over the service standards of our aircraft or are we at the mercy of the technicians at Singapore Aerospace?

Does SAF have 100% control of the quality of our parachutes or are our Commandos at the mercy of foreign parachute riggers?

Commercialisation and cheaper cost comes at a heavy price.

Let us wake up before we lose all key capabilities

Some of the SPF responsibilities have been privatised to AETOS, CISCO, foreign LTA wardens. No wonder SG roads are in such a mess. Cheap stuff are not nromally good.

Do our policy makers know the messy situation on our roads as our SPF officers have commercialised their responsibilities to foreign AETOs, CISCO and LTA enforcers?

Has ICA commercialised its checks at Changi Airport, TUAS and Woodlands checkpoints to foreigners yet?

It is frightening to know that many lift servicings, maintenance and repairs are done by foreigners because they are cheaper and we can get cheaper quotes from the contractors.

It is frightening that many of our high rise buildings, malls and condos are built by foreigners whose skill and qualifications the authorities dont check.

No wonder high rise wall facades are falling from heights. So far no one has been injured. But if pap and BCA do nothing it is a matter of time before these falling facade will hurt or kill some innocent Singaporean

The recent detention of nine SAF APCs by Hk is just the tip of the iceberg of the flaws in SG system without PAP admitting it.

If pap doesnt wake up, more of what's below the water will surface

Commercialise the transportation of SAF equipment overseas? Does this include highly sensitive equipment? Is the APC considered sensitive or not that it can securely be transported by APL?

Does the pap and saf have a thorough understanding of the consequences of commercialisation on our safety and security? Does our RSN not have the LST capability to transport sensitive and high value assets for overseas training?

Sending our troops for overseas training by commercial flights may be cheaper. But sometimes, sending by C130 may be more beneficial.

Sending APCs or other sensitive equipment by APL to taiwan may be cheaper. But sending by our SAF means may be better and more secure

Cost is not everything.

Employing foreigners may be cheaper. But keeping, nurturing the SG core and employing Singaporeans is far better and superior for a country. Will PAP ever realise that hard truth?
