President election - spoiling my vote and why

Here's why - all the candidates were once with the PAP. In the WP's manifesto, it is exactly what the scheme was all about - only people related to the PAP is eligible to contest and only PAP will continue to be able to produce this kind. Any one of the 3gets elected and a new opposition government years later will be jammed.

The PE contest isn't important to me because I don't believe in such a system and also I already had the chance to vote at the general election, which is a lot more meaningful.

At least two have promised to continue Ong Teng Cheong's work. I have great doubt about George Yeo. So don't discard those who are wiling to serve the people. PAP must not be given the chance to self-elect their own team.

One more thing that is noteworthy. The PE is coming close and the PAP has not endorsed a single candidate. Not like OTC or Nathan. That is a big risk and very unlike the PAP not too. So it may mean either one or more actually has the endorsement of PAP secretly.

The Pap has lobotomised the position that it is practically sterile. why would the Pap bother when there are candidates who qualify on paper. Their biggest fear is no one who qualifies will stand.

Interesting perspective.

Just 2 quick points from my perspective:

1. With the criteria set, it will be difficult to get eligible candidates with no pap connection. The only suitable people would be successful businessman or high level corporate executives with no political affiliations past or present, and it would be difficult to understand why they would want this job given their success in their private careers. Most ex civil servants, ex GLC executives, almost all ex MPs and all ex ministars would be deemed to have pap connections, even the disgruntled ones.

2. I'm not overly interested in this election either, but will definitely vote for the person who interests me most, i.e. it will be interesting to see what he says or does after he gets elected.

If nobody gets elected as a result of spoiling your vote, then it is something worth pursuing.

If not, you are better off giving your vote to someone you prefer rather than letting someone else gets elected.

Since someone is going to get elected, regardless of the minority who spoil votes, it is better to exercise your right to vote than to lose it.

Not true. There are qualified people who will pluck PAP's feathers. The PAP wanted the presidency to pluck the opposition government's feathers.

This will never happen. However, if the spoil votes are high enough, hopefully the nation will catch it. I'm talking to people I know that I will spoil my vote.

Voting Is A Waste Of Time

What makes you think that you can vote ? I told you before that a friend of mine asked me, "You seems to know a lot (about our political scene), why don't you join an opposition party ?" And I answered, "That's because I have NO confidence with voting (ballot boxes). If you have read what I have posted many years ago, you won't be asking this."

"So, what's the best way ?" and I answered "Army Command !" Okay, it's Revolution. Nothing less than that. So, is demonstration a precursor to something bigger ?
