Incumbent Russian leader Vladimir Putin is set to secure a resounding victory in the Russian presidential election, according to partial results made public by the electoral commission.
With 31 percent of the votes counted, mostly in eastern part of the country, Vladimir Putin leads with 73 percent of the vote, well above the simple majority needed to avoid a run-off.

First-time Communist Party candidate Pavel Grudinin is running second with 15 percent, while veteran nationalist politician Vladimir Zhirinovsky, who first ran against Boris Yeltsin in 1991, rounds out the top three with about seven percent.

None of the other five candidates is on track to receive more than two percent of the vote.

The early results are in line with exit-polls conducted by Russian polling agencies FOM, which predicted Putin would take 77 percent of the vote, and VCIOM, which forecast a final share of 73.9 percent for the current president.

Ella Pamfilova, head of the Russian Central Election Commission, has said that there were no major violations during the vote, and that only “minor and local complaints” were received.

Vladimir Putin is widely expected to address his supporters at a massive anniversary rally in Moscow’s Red Square, dedicated to Crimea voting to become a part of Russia four years ago.

Putin was first elected to the Kremlin in 2000, and again four years later. Constitutionally barred from serving more than two consecutive terms, he did not run in 2008, the same year presidential terms were extended from four years to six years. Putin won 63.6 percent of the vote in 2012, and, if the early results are confirmed, he will now stay in his post until 2024, the year he turns 72.

With more than 97,000 polling stations nationwide and abroad, Russia’s election day was destined for some unpredictable ballot-casting. From dancing chickens to dressed-up newlyweds, here are some of today’s unique Russian voters.
Family of 30 gets bussed to the polls
A family in the Volgograd Region had to be bussed to their local polling station. The Potapovs – 30 in all – voted together and in high spirits, according to local media reports.

“Today is an important day for the whole country. We choose not just the president, but the leader of the nation, who must be strong and confident in his decisions, be able to adequately respond to external threats and, of course, take care of his people,” said Valentina Potapova, the family matriarch. The mother of nine children, she also has 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Honeymoon in the polling booth?
Eighteen pairs of newlyweds in the Republic of Ingushetia, in the North Caucasus region, found time to choose a president after giving their vows. Local authorities apparently presented the new couples with household appliances, according to local media reports.

In Tatarstan, two newlyweds fulfilled their civic duty immediately after their wedding ceremony – with the bride arriving at the polling station in a flowing white bridal gown.

Famous Frenchie votes
French film star Gerard Depardieu cast his ballot at the Russian embassy in Paris. Depardieu, a friend of Russia, was granted citizenship in 2013.

Get out the vote: Chicken style
For those who were feeling a bit sluggish on Sunday morning, one lucky town had a mini pep rally in front of their polling station. A large dancing chicken greeted voters – and, of course, welcomed selfies.

Russia introduces exotic beach voting
Some 3,500 Russian beachgoers cast their ballot in sunny Thailand. Russian tourists were able to vote in Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket, as well as in Samui and Hua Hin.

Today there was an election day in Russia. Sort of a president have to be elected today. However many call it elections with no real alternative to Vladimir. Because of this authorities sort of were afraid not much of people would arrive to the elections. For this they organized different crazy attractions for people to attend election stations. Here is a selection of most weird occassions.

Some places had picturesque visitors attending. Like semi naked sportsmen.

Medieval knights.

Free food for the voters (in some places).

Some time ago Russian authorities installed webcams on all the polling stations. And thanks to this some really weird photos are available today. Like, what this woman is doing inside the ballot box?

Another dude stuck in the ballot box.

And one more.

Gerard Depardieu, French award winning actor got Russian passport too, so he arrived to vote as well.

Another weird webcam from a voting station. Now in Chechnya, Russia.

Some weirdos arrived to vote too. Like dressed in a rocket suit.

Also they installed sort of photo templates to post a photo after a vote in a social media.

And some places got really weird attractions, like Masha and the bear or..

Elder people dancing.

Some national dances.

Or simply sleeping when nobody comes.

Some didn’t want to get caught on camera so they got creative how to block the view.

And couple more photos:

And the winner is “John Snow, King of the North”.

What a madness.

Russians did the right thing for voting for Putin. He has lots of experience being president and has a track record. Oppies, on the other hand, have none. Even a child would know that the oppies are grossly unreliable.
