Security at Shanghai Tower has been further tightened after two local men mimicked the antics of the Russian and Ukrainian daredevils who filmed themselves atop the 632-meter building during the Spring Festival, authorities said yesterday.

The Chinese pair, who were not named but said to be in their 20s, recently uploaded film and photographs of their exploits to the Internet. The two men wore masks to disguise their identities and climbed the tower at night, the authorities said.
"Security was increased after the incident with the foreign climbers, but not all of the barriers had been erected when the Chinese pair got in," an official said.
Police are investigating the matter, he said.
Fences were yesterday put up around the entire construction site, and workers are now required to show an identity card to gain access via a turnstile.
