Woman from China and S'porean man jailed in HK immigration scam

A woman from China and a Singaporean man have been jailed by a Hong Kong District Court for up to two years for attempting to enter the country with a fake passport.
According to a report on a HK governmental website, they were stopped by immigration officers at the airport in July.
The couple claimed they were lovers and produced two Singaporean passports.
Upon closer inspection, it was found that the woman's Singaporean passport was counterfeit. A subsequent body search uncovered her Chinese passport.
The two of them then admitted the man was employed by a middleman to escort her to the US.
The HK Immigration Department charged the woman with one count of making false representation and one count of conspiracy to obtain services by deception.
She was jailed for 20 months.
The man was charged with one count of possession of a false travel document and one count of conspiracy to obtain services by deception. He was jailed for two years.
