A Chinese national who fell from the 12th storey of a condominium landed in the swimming pool below.
According to media reports, Zhou Zhi Hui, 26, was trying to escape from an argument with her landlord when she lost her grip at the balcony of her flat at The Citrine, a condominium in Jalan Datoh in Balestier.
At about 11.20 am on Friday morning, the woman fell about 40m and landed in the swimming pool on the second floor. She was wearing a pink negligee and holding a handbag.
She has since been arrested for attempted suicide and is out on police bail.
The Straits Times reported that she said wanted to get out of the house by climbing down to the unit below and never thought of killing herself.
But police say she had threatened to jump during the dispute and under the law, suicide is a crime.
Zhou had packed all her belongings into a brown handbag and waited for her landlord to be distracted before climbing out of the balcony.
Once out of the balcony, she panicked and called for help. The landlord tried to pull her up but lost his grip.
She was later sent to the hospital with pain in her lower back and legs.
Zhou arrived in Singapore last month from Shandong and has been working as a KTV hostess. Seven to eight other women who shared the flat with her moved out one by one.
