A Singaporean got the shock of his life when alighting from a bus at Sun Plaza yesterday. A woman forced her way up the bus from the rear door and asked him to ‘get lost’. She then sat down without paying.

When he complained to the bus captain about the woman, he pretended not to hear anything and drove off.
“I told the bus captain about the free ride, but he didn’t care and drove off. I thought this would only happen in the 80s or 90s. I don’t think she and the bus captain are locals. Singapore is not their home, they just don’t care about Singaporeans,” the man who is known as ‘Donny’ wrote on STOMP.
This is not the first incident involving a PRC national on Singapore buses and taxis. Last week, a PRC man refused to pay a cabby the fare and even showed him his middle finger. (read more here)

I think she must have overheard the sgplian uncle screaming the following after being caught by the bus captain for not paying the correct fair after having to alight earlier.

'Why you catch me? Singapore govt beri rich already!'

LKY has publicly asked S'poreans to be more understanding towards foreigners (which is largely made up of PRCs). In other words, even if a PRC were to call us "dogs", or exhibit anti-social behavior such as boarding a bus from the rear or even committing a crime like not paying the fare, LKY has asked us to look the other way and to just grin and bear it.

Now, if LKY had said that, how do we expect the GLCs that includes SBS and SMRT to respond? Remember that the GLCs are here to serve their policital masters the PAP and not us. What's more in this case it's a decree directly from the grand old master himself. So naturally, SBS and SMRT staff must had been told to simply let PRCs do whatever they want on the buses or trains, including not having to pay for the ride. Had it been a S'porean who did not pay the fare, the SBS captain would have driven him or her straight to the police station.

In most countries, it is the foreigners that complain of being discriminated. Here, because of LKY, it is us S'poreans that is being subjected to the double standards that are practised in favor of the PRCs. As in The Hunger Games, LKY is saying to the PRCs: "May the odds be ever in your favor". What hope is there left for S'poreans though we are the true sons of the earth so to speak.

You can't blame these people. They get paid so little and bus fare to high. What to do?
