Another new low for the gnome team. Poodles tells construction company to engage private bomb disposal unit when they found an unexploded 160kg WW2 at their JTC -leased site. Poodles say: bomb in private property is not their business! Wonder what will happen if someone finds a bomb in K Shanmugam's house?

wow...there is private bomb disposal companies in SG? When will we have private security companies like Blackwater so that we need not do NS anymore?

WW2 ordinance disposal used to be done by Combat Engineers. Then in the late 90s it became a function for the SPF. So now it has become fully privatised? Is it another Temasek owned company?

I would think in the post 9/11 world, bomb disposal would be more important than ever as a national security function?

What next? Privatise the air force too?

Just call the karang guni man lah.

If anything happens, it's just another "honest mistake"

Anyone in his right mind on discovering a bomb in his premises will of course call the police. It is a deadly life or death situation. The police or SAF BDU should attend immediately and perform their national duty! Or else the bomb may detonate and kill someone. Calling a pte company to do the job smacks of passing the buck or dereliction of duty. Is this new thinking or policy? So commercialised? In the past, the SAF will invariably be summoned into action straightaway.

The police are really stupid, and don't understand the law at all, a frightening fact. The property is not a private property as it is leased from the JTC. JTC is the owner of the property and since they are a govt. stat board, it is actually the govt, that has to dispose of it. The construction company should just put an ad for a free bomb to anyone who wants to come and get it themselves. U will see how fast the police will come and dig it out.

biggest joke man!!! even found bomb in our waters the navy will send their divers and EOD to dispose it. i doubt any private company got the knowledge and capabilities to do it!

They should haul that thing onto a pickup, bring it to the nearest police post, and tell them they had found this....

They may be arrested for terrorizing police post...somewhere between life detention without trial and death penalty with trial.

What the police wants to tell you is they have no jurisdiction like in embassy property. So private property is not part of Singapore and thus you can commit any acts you want. Or next time you decide to build a bomb in a private property and use it, it is not police pasar. Thank for the clarification, Singapore police.

1. bro, good one!
2. some talented sheep might just do that leh on sheepishland since mata no "huh" pte properties.

The real reason is that all the experts in this field have retired. The young police officers who have training in bomb demolition are only good in paper. When it comes to on the ground situation they wriggle out. Why risk my life when I am getting a fat salary, is their attitude. They don't want to call in the army as it would mean loss of face.

As a matter of fact, there were many unexploded bombs dropped by the Japs.

I remember many years back, workers were constructing my pond in my garden and they discovered a bomb 2 feet in length and weigh 4 to 5 kg whilst digging.

They informed me and I didn't call police. It so happens that I was going to Pulau Ubin that day. I put the bomb into a a plastic bag and bring along with me.:o

I took the motorised sampan from Changi to Pulau Ubin. Half way at sea, I threw the bomb into the sea. Few seconds later, there was an underwater explosion and the sampan rocked for a full 3 minutes.

I reached Pulau Ubin and proceeded to eat sea-food and drink anchor beer.:)

On the return trip and halfway at sea, the sampan operator stopped because there were many fishes floating in the sea. He duly took a net and scooped up the fishes and distributed to all passengers. Apparently, the fishes were killed by the explosion.

At night, I ate ikan goreng, sambal style binya for dinner and drank anchor beer.:o:):)

Looks like I should renew contacts with my former G4 who was one of the first ammo experts in the army.

What dope have you been smoking? Calling you out on this one. :D:D:D

That serious?, I though you bring a hammer together with the bomb & test if it is live at the police post...:D
