Police release photofit of suspect in Jaip official's murder

KUANTAN: Police have released a photofit of one of the three suspects in connection with the murder of Pahang Islamic Religious Department (Jaip) enforcement chief Ahmad Rafli Abdul Malek.
State police chief Senior Deputy Comm Datuk Sharifuddin Abdul Ghani said the photofit had a nearly 70% resemblance to one of the suspects, in his 50s.
SDC Sharifuddin said police had obtained some leads and were working around the clock to track down the suspects.
"We urge the public to assist us in providing information and, if they stumble upon any person similar to the photofit, to alert us immediately.
"We will also liaise with our counterparts in keeping a lookout for the suspects," he told a press conference here Tuesday.
SDC Sharifuddin said investigations showed that the suspect, who was in white attire, was the one who called out to Ahmad Rafli in his home on the pretext of delivering a document.
"Another suspect, who opened fire thrice, was clad in a black jacket and in his 40s.
"No information is available on the third accomplice - the driver of the getaway car," he said, adding that all three shots hit Ahmad Rafli during the 1.55pm incident on Sunday, leading to his death outside his house in Indera Mahkota 2, near here.
SDC Sharifuddin said investigations also revealed that Ahmad Rafli had not received any personal threats from any parties prior to the shooting incident.
He added that so far, no followers of the deviationist group "Tuhan Harun" had turned themselves in to the authorities for questioning.
On Monday, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar urged 31 followers of the cult to surrender themselves for questioning in connection with the murder.
He said police have identified the followers and they were required to surrender themselves as soon as possible.
