Police raid illegal gambling den, 7 people arrested

SINGAPORE: Seven people were arrested for managing and gaming in an illegal gambling den at a shophouse on Wednesday morning.
Police raided the shophouse located along Geylang Road.
The suspects, including one woman, are aged between 38 and 60.
A 60-year-old male suspect is believed to be involved in assisting to manage the illegal gambling den.
The remaining suspects are believed to be patrons.
Twelve modified computers and about S$490 in cash were seized in the raid.
The suspects will be charged in court on Thursday.
If found guilty of assisting to manage a place used as a common gaming house, the suspect can be fined between S$5,000 and S$50,000 and jailed for up to three years.
As for the patrons, if they are found guilty, each can be fined up to S$5,000 or jailed for up to six months or both. - CNA/ms
