A HK$300,000 reward is being offered in a hunt for a suspected triad member accused of being involving the fatal chopping of a 30-year-old man.

A new reward notice posted on the Hong Kong police website said Lee Man-ho, 26, also known as “Man Ho” or “Man Chai”, is wanted in connection with the killing of Tse Chi-shing in Sheung Shui last April.

The move came after Lee, believed to be a Wo Shing Wo triad member, rammed his car into a police vehicle in Sheung Shui in November as he managed to escape arrest.

The suspect is about 1.6 metres tall with short hair and tattoos on his neck, chest, both arms and left leg. He has a dragon head tattoo on his chest.

“Our intelligence shows he has fled out of Hong Kong through [an] illegal channel,” a police source said of Lee on Wednesday morning.

The fatal attack happened shortly before 1pm on April 28 last year when Tse, 30, left the North District Hospital in Sheung Shui after treatment for a leg injury.

Walking with a cane, he was attacked by two men with knives in Po Kin Road outside the hospital. After the attack, the pair fled in a white car before police arrived. Police recovered an axe at the scene.

The victim was taken to the hospital, where he was declared dead at 2.32pm the same day.

“The cause of death was multiple cut wounds to body and limbs, resulting in severe bleeding,” the reward notice said.

So far, officers from the New Territories North regional crime unit have arrested 23 people in connection with the case. Two of them have been charged.

According to the police notice, the HK$300,000 reward is effective until June 12.

The sum is one of 13 rewards totalling HK$4.5 million police are offering for help in locating suspects in 13 murder cases.

The highest reward offered is HK$600,000 for information leading to the arrest of three suspected Wo Shing Wo triad members over the death of Lee Tai-lung, former leader of the Tsim Sha Tsui faction of the Sun Yee On triad. Lee was hit by a car outside the Kowloon Shangri-La Hotel and hacked to death in August 2009.
