KUANTAN: Police successfully nabbed three robbery suspects, including a school gardener, two hours after they tried to rob a photo shop.
Pahang police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Sharifuddin Ab Ghani said the suspects had parked their car in front of the shop at Balok here at about 12.15am on Monday before two men armed with machetes rushed inside.
"They were threatening the customers with their machetes but the shop owner managed to run away and he shouted for help. Upon seeing this, the suspects fled without taking anything.
"Based on the information received, the police managed to stop the suspects' car at a roadblock at Km12 of the Kuantan bypass heading towards Kemaman at 2.10am.
“The three tried to run but they were arrested after a brief struggle," said DCP Sharifuddin on Monday.
He said the suspects, aged between 22 and 35-years-old, had changed their clothes in trying to trick the police.
"We found a machete and a stick in the car. We believe they were involved in other armed robberies in the area," said DCP Sharifuddin, adding that the suspects were being held at the Kuantan district police headquarters for investigation.
