SINGAPORE - Police said that they have arrested a 33-year-old man for suspected involvement in several cases of cheating.

The suspect would make high bids for items during auctions held at Lunar Seventh Month dinners, and then disappear with the items, the police said in a statement today (Aug 25).

The estimated amount involved in the cases are over $20,000.

The police said they received several reports of cheating this month. Officers from Bedok Police Division conducted investigations to establish the identity of the suspect and arrested the suspect yesterday.

The man will be charged in court tomorrow. If convicted of cheating, he could be jailed up to 10 years and fined.
