Police nab 130 in overnight raid
SINGAPORE: The police arrested 130 suspects in an overnight raid at the Little India and Jalan Besar area on Saturday (Aug 30).
The operation was conducted by officers from the Central Police Division, the Criminal Investigation Department and other agencies. They busted three illegal gambling dens and four entertainment outlets believed to have breached licensing regulations.
Seventy-six suspects were arrested for offences involving illegal employment. The rest were nabbed for alleged crimes such as illegal gaming, drink driving and unlawful assembly. Those arrested were aged between 18 and 73 and more than half of them were women. - CNA/ec
