TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Police authorities in southeastern Pingtung County arrested an alleged drug-dealer earlier this month who was accused of using pre-packaged instant drink powders to disguise illegal narcotics in order to sell them, the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB, 刑事局) has announced.
In a released statement, the CIB said the suspect surnamed Huang (黃) was arrested on March 11 during a raid at his residence in Pingtung. Huang fired his firearm in an attempt to resist arrest during the operation but was still apprehended by police, it added.
Huang is currently in custody at the Pingtung District Prosecutors Office on charges of attempted murder, and possession of firearms and narcotics, it noted.
According to the CIB, Huang had been selling and distributing narcotics in Southern Taiwan for a period of time.
Huang allegedly used prepackaged instant drink powders to conceal illegal narcotics including class three drugs Nimetazepam and Ketamine in Southern Taiwan.
After initial investigations, police launched the raid on March 11.
During the raid, more than 32,000 Nimetazepam and Ketamine tablets were confiscated.
