Police bust teen ‘Muhibbah’ gang in Butterworth

BUTTERWORTH: Police believe they have busted the "Muhibbah Gang" consisting mainly of teenagers who broke into houses and workers' hostels here.

The group's activities were exposed after police arrested a teenage boy on July 20 when he broke into a workers' hostel in Jalan Jetti Lama, here, at 5.30 am.

Penang CID chief SAC Mazlan Kesah said that following the arrest, the police nabbed three more teenage boys and a man, aged between 14 and 24, who were part of the gang.

"On interrogation, they revealed several places in Butterworth used as hiding places by the gang for its stolen goods.

"We also managed to recover four stolen bags and eight mobile phones. All the goods have been identified by residents of the hostel," he told a press conference, here, Thursday night. - Bernama
