Police bust illegal gambling den in Geylang

SINGAPORE - Two men aged 37 and 38 years old were arrested for operating an illegal gambling den out of a private apartment.
Officers from Bedok Police Division led a four-hour operation on Feb 5 at around 1pm. They raided a unit located along Lorong 12 Geylang and nabbed the duo at the scene.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the apartment unit was rented by the 38-year-old man for the purpose of gambling. The other man arrested is believed to be a patron.
19 modified computers and cash amounting to $1,154 were also seized as case exhibits.
The 38-year-old man will be charged in court while investigations against the other suspect are ongoing.
If found guilty of assisting to manage a place used as a gambling den, the man can be fined between $5,000 and $50,000 and be jailed up to three years.
If found guilty of gambling in an illegal gambling den, the other two persons can be fined up to $5,000 or jailed up to six months.
