Police bust illegal gambling den in Geylang

A late night raid at a shophouse at Geylang Lorong 27 resulted in the arrest of 15 people for gambling at an illegal gambling den.
Eleven men and four women aged between 29 and 52 were arrested in the operation conducted on August 29.
Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the male suspects, aged 29, is believed to be involved in assisting to manage the illegal gambling den.
He will be charged in court on August 31. If found guilty, he may be fined between $5,000 and $50,000, and jailed up to three years.
The remaining 14 suspects are patrons of the illegal gambling den - six of them will also be charged on August 31 while investigations against the rest are ongoing. Those convicted may be fined up to $5,000, jailed up to six months, or both.
In addition, 33 modified computers and cash amounting to $2,227 were also seized.
