SINGAPORE - She was caught allegedly raining blows on her 65-year-old neighbour in a video that went viral over the weekend.

When police were alerted and tried to detain her, it is believed that she shouted vulgarities at a female staff sergeant and also tried to kick another female corporal.

On Monday, Casey Sabrina Ng, also known as Asha, 41, was charged in court for voluntarily causing hurt to the corporal and verbally abusing the staff sergeant on Saturday.

Ng has been remanded for psychiatric evaluation at the Institute of Mental Health.

She is scheduled to appear again in court on Oct 14.

For verbally abusing the officer, she could be fined up to $5,000.

For kicking the corporal, she could be jailed up to seven years, caned and/or fined.

The alleged attack was recorded through a security camera installed two weeks ago by the relatives of the victim, Madam Toh Siew Hong, at her Chai Chee Road flat.

Ng has not been charged for the alleged assault as police are still investigating.

SINGAPORE: The 41-year-old woman who was caught on camera beating up her 65-year-old neighbour will be remanded at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) for another week.

In late September, Casey Sabrina Ng was charged with verbally abusing a staff sergeant and kicking a female police corporal at Block 10 Chai Chee Road.

At that time, it was understood that the officers were alerted when Madam Toh Siew Hong was assaulted.

The attack was recorded on a security camera installed by Madam Toh's relatives in the lift lobby area.

The move stemmed from concerns about their neighbour's behaviour.

After being charged, Ng was ordered to be remanded at IMH for assessment.

Having been remanded for some time, Ng on Monday requested for a one-week adjournment so she could settle some personal matters.

She said she was trying to sell her flat and that the matter would be stalled as she is the owner of the flat.

But the district judge decided that Ng would be remanded at IMH for another week.

The case will be mentioned again on October 21. - CNA/ec
