SINGAPORE: A 49-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of another man.

Police said they received a call at about 10.30pm on Saturday that a man was injured at Block 15, Lorong 7, Toa Payoh.

The 51-year-old victim was sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital and died just after midnight.

Police have classified the case as murder.

Neighbour charged with Toa Payoh murder

AN UNEMPLOYED man was charged in a district court on Monday with the murder of 51-year-old Mr Mohan.

Narayanasamy Namasivayam, 49, is alleged to have committed the offence on Saturday at about 10.30pm at a seven-floor flat in Block 15, Lorong & Toa Payoh.

Mr Mohan, who went by one name and was unemployed, was found unconscious in a staircase landing of the block of rental flats.

Taken to the Tan Tock Seng Hospital, he died about two hours later.

The burly Narayanasamy did not show any expression when his case was mentioned.

Man arrested over fight that ended in friend's death

A 49-YEAR-OLD man suspected of killing his neighbour after a fight was arrested by police on Saturday night.

It is believed that a scuffle had broken out earlier in the evening in the dead man's rental flat at Lorong7, Toa Payoh.

Police identified the victim, who was unemployed, as Mr Mohan, 51.

Neighbours said the two friends often fought after they got drunk together, and that police have had to intervene on several occasions. But they would resolve their differences the next day.

However, the latest episode proved fatal. The suspect is understood to have consumed alcohol shortly before heading to Mr Mohan's flat on the seventh floor, just two doors away from his.

Mr Mohan's brother told Chinese daily Lianhe Wanbao that the suspect had come striding into their flat and started shouting while punching and kicking his brother.
