SINGAPORE - A 37-year-old man suspected in a case of outrage of modesty on board an MRT train has been arrested, police said on Friday (Jan 8).
The female victim had come across a post on a social media site on Jan 2 about a man allegedly touching an unknown female passenger on board a train from Sembawang MRT station towards Bishan MRT station.
Acting on the post, the female victim lodged a report with the police on the same day, alleging that she had been molested by the same suspect.
Officers from Ang Mo Kio Division and the Public Transport Security Command then conducted extensive ground enquiries to establish the suspect's identity. The suspect was arrested on Jan 7, a statement from the police said.
The suspect will be charged in Court on Saturday (Jan 9) for the offence of Outrage of Modesty under Section 354(1) of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he faces a jail term of up to two years, or a fine and will also be liable to caning.
