The man touted by some to be the next Prime Minister believes that the Republic's fourth generation leadership is not yet in place, even though it is only eight years away from the deadline that Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has set himself to pass on the baton.

Describing himself as "not a political creature", he said: "I didn't plan to go into the army. I didn't expect myself to do well in the army. I didn't come (into politics) because I want to be the PM, or the Deputy PM. You come in because this bunch of people you (will) work with are honourable people. You want to do some good, make a contribution."

This Kee Chiu clown still does not understand why he is so unsuitable as a politician, much less as PM.

His career is devoid of passion.

"I didn't plan to go into the army."

I believe that he just went with the flow. No ideas whatsoever of his life's goals. Just go where the money flows....

"I didn't expect myself to do well in the army." This is just delusional. No Mr Chan (I hate to call you BG cos you certainly don't deserve it), you did not do anything in the army. What you did was ace the examinations you took at 'A' levels, university and the scholarship interview. The rest as, everybody knows happens to SAF scholars, they just went with the flow and eventually end up in some GLCs, get some stars on the shoulder, or become PS. Some lucky sods will be invited to be MPs and even luckier ones in Cabinet. What did they accomplish along the way? As long as you don't cock up........you'll get somewhere. Don't swim against the current, you'll be drowned. Just go with the flow.....

"I didn't come (into politics) because I want to be the PM, or the Deputy PM. You come in because this bunch of people you (will) work with are honourable people. You want to do some good, make a contribution."

Again, joining something not because you believe you can make a big contribution but because there's some nice people there. Nice, as in people who can promote you, give you more money and stature, bigger titles. Not because you really have some bright ideas you want and feel will work, but you just want to contribute.

Contribute, as in helping arrange for funerals. Getting the gun carriage ready and polished. Contribute, as in listening closely to a hoarse old man's whisperings and ushering him into his seat. Contribute, as in hopefully getting that PM title.

But after all this is said, I don't have an idea what he wants to do for the people. Politicians are born. Good ones are born with the fire in their bellies and belief in uplifting their fellow man without receiving favours in return.

But this accidental artificial politician did not know he will enter politics one day. He just went with the flow.....
