美航母在冲绳海域被台风吹塌

1945年6月5日，单独执行任务的美国海军太平洋第三舰队第1特混大队，在九州-冲绳海域期间，碰上了强大的台风。这次台风之强劲，连正规航空母舰和战列舰都吃不消了，致使这些庞然大物的上层建筑和飞行甲板受到很大破坏。这一次强台风给美国舰队造成的损失是36艘舰船受到中等程度的破坏，其中包括3艘战列舰、2艘大型航空母舰、2艘轻型航空母舰、4艘护航航空母舰，损失飞机142架，以下是事故现场老照片。
