Seems like being the transport minister is a job for the 'condemned' PAP personnel. Just like Lui Tuck Yew, it's the rubbish bin of SG politics.
 
He is getting old. If he had not been geh kiang go to Transport Ministry he would have gone up the ranks.

Perhaps he knew he was getting no where so he tried to go to Transport Ministry thinking if he can fix MRT then he could go higher.

Working Visit by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to New York, 21 to 27 September 2019

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will make a working visit to New York from 21 to 27 September 2019.

During the visit, Prime Minister Lee will meet President of the United States of America Donald J Trump. Prime Minister Lee will receive the World Statesman Award at the 54th Annual Appeal of Conscience Foundation Awards Dinner, and deliver Singapore’s national statement at the General Debate of the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). Prime Minister Lee will also meet industry and financial sector leaders, as well as other prominent US personalities, and attend a reception with overseas Singaporeans.

Prime Minister Lee will head Singapore’s delegation to the 74th UNGA, and attend a series of UN meetings, including the Secretary-General’s Climate Action Summit. Prime Minister Lee will host a reception for members of the Forum of Small States, an informal grouping of more than 100 small countries that was launched by Singapore in 1992. Prime Minister Lee will also meet foreign counterparts on the sidelines of the UNGA.

Prime Minister Lee will be accompanied by Mrs Lee, Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen, Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, and officials from the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Communications and Information, the Ministry of Defence, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

After his visit to New York, Prime Minister Lee will make an Official Visit to Armenia from 28 September 2019 to 1 October 2019.

During the Prime Minister’s absence, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Heng Swee Keat will be the Acting Prime Minister for the period 21 to 30 September 2019, and Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Minister for Transport Khaw Boon Wan will be the Acting Prime Minister for the period 1 to 2 October 2019.
