SINGAPORE - After experiencing three train disruptions in four days, commuters will now have to bear with a reduced frequency of trains in the morning and slower trains along certain stretches of the MRT network.

But these new measures, which kick in today, are necessary after a 12-hour, overnight inspection - conducted by staff from SMRT and the Land Transport Authority (LTA) - discovered 61 rail defects and 13 faulty trains.

vibrations, age, wear and tear from high frequency of trips, increased weight of trains due to extreme passenger loading, shorter intervals and poor or improper maintenance contribute to mechanical and electrical failures. for a system this size, so complexed, carrying millions of passengers a day all over the island, has so much at stake, providing lifeblood to the economy, acting like both nervous and blood circulation systems to a flourishing city, the management and personnel running it must be the best of the best, bester and paid more than top cabinet ministers. what smrt currently has is sub par management with a ghetto 3rd world mentality. :D

How come the so called routine daily maintenance that SMRT said they carry out failed to detect any of these defects??????

Enter the VP who is more keen in catching late comers. :D

Knn serve him right last time b4 he was in ops he was the head of maintainance. Fucking yah yah papaya don't give face one in meetings always belittle his subs infront of others just to make him look powerful. Infront smile smile behind poke you. Anyhow promote his lap dogs and his lap dogs go around bully others in the workshop. Best part is after he got transfered another director took over lagi more funny. Don't know anything about maintainance at all everytime see the line managers throw smoke bombs at him during meetings and he swollow it whole harharhar. Best part is this chap that took over him so blur that only know how to stand at the gate to catch people going for 5mins early lunch and catch the nightshift for using the company van to go out and buy makan. Imagine you have a joker that is paid directors pay doing security guard job instead of coming up ways to improve maintainance.

hi there

1. bro, to the top-earner sheep: you die your biz.
2. what is most important: million-dollar paycheck mah!

increased frequency, usage and higher loads should require shorter times between maintenance and inspections for the trains, tracks and other related systems. The former took place but maybe not the latter ....hence this state of affairs.
SMRT must buck up and ensure much less fuck up.
