Many people take vacations with family members, friends and even colleagues.
But Ms Fatmah Haji Mohamed Salim, 62, has gone on holidays four times with a Member of Parliament.
Next month, she will again have the company of Mr Zainul Abidin Rasheed, an MP for Aljunied GRC, this time in a tour of Hat Yai, Penang and Malacca.
Some 150 people - each paying $570 - have signed up for the six-day trip called Eunos Harmony Trail.
They consist of grassroots members, Eunos residents and family members who may not be living in Eunos.
Started in 2006 and organised by Eunos Citizens Consultative Committee, the trips are meant to get residents to bond with one another and know their MP better.
Ms Fatma, a part-time administrative assistant, said she was nervous when she learnt that Mr Zainul, 62, would be going along on the first trip in 2006.
'We were not sure how to behave in front of him and we were very nervous about it,' she said.
But it is different now as she sees Mr Zainul as one of her many friends on the trip.
Mr Zainul, who is also Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, goes with the flow on the trips.
'I find that the opportunities to eat and have recreational activities together are good vehicles to bring our residents closer together,' he said.
'The durian parties during the trails are very popular,' he added. His wife will be joining him on the June trip, just as she did on the previous trips.
Mr Mohan Dharan, senior constituency manager of Eunos Constituency Office, said of the sporting MP: 'He will take part in all facets of the trip, be it sightseeing, meals and even the singalongs on the bus.'
The June outing will double as a workplan retreat for the grassroots members.
Mr Mohan said they are keeping track of the situation in Thailand but do not foresee any problems.
